DST~ Jet Lag Without Traveling

Photobucket

Thanks to daylight savings time we get have the feeling of “jet lag” without traveling. We have all heard the arguments of fuel savings and poor little school children in the dark at bus stops. But beside the fact for us here in Alaska it is a very stupid idea since we do not gain any thing by it, we have extreme amounts of light in our summer and dark in the winter. There is no getting around it, that for Alaskans there is not enough difference tp mention. Yet we are drug along with the rest of the country for the sake of uniformity. As for the rest of the country, why can’t they just pick one or the other and stick with it??? It reminds me of people who change change the “question” to fit “their answer.”  If they do not like the amount of dark or light in the day why not have the hours of the schools or government offices go to winter hours, instead of messing up the world by changing times on the clock? Many countries get by just fine without using DST (Daylight Savings Time). Japan for one, and even some of our states like Arizona, andmany of them look in our foolishness and laugh at the stupidity of it all, and I would agree with them.

This is not a life or death/ eternal issue, and this is an area where we may have our own opinions. That is fine, and if you like DST I don’t want you to feel to bad. :) Just had to vent this time change again today!

We have DST here to keep us from falling even further behind the east coast. Who wants to get up at 3am to call New York at 8 their time? It does seem silly when thinking about it in terms of day length up here. I too wish we didn’t have it though.
