Quiverfull “QF” Deficient Christians

This is a quote taken from Wikipedia that opens the discription of Quiverfull, and its supposed beginnings.
Quiverfull is a movement among conservative evangelical Protestant Christian couples chiefly in the United States, but with some adherents in Canada, and with claims of adherents also in Australia, New Zealand, England, and elsewhere. Its distinguishing viewpoint is to eagerly receive children as blessings from God, eschewing all forms of contraception, including natural family planning and sterilization. Someone of this persuasion might call themselves a “quiver full”, “full quiver”, “quiverfull-minded”, or simply “QF” Christian. Roman Catholics and some others might refer to the Quiverfull position as Providentialism, while the popular press has recently referred to the movement as a manifestation of natalism. The movement and its corpus of literature have grown steadily since its inception. Its adherents most likely number in the “thousands to low tens of thousands”. It began to receive significant attention in the U.S. national press in 2004.
We are a Christian family that is Quiverfull minded. We do accept every blessing that God wants to give to us with great joy! We are now happy to have our 5th child together due May 6th 2008. However as I read this quote from Wikipedia I am disgusted. Not so much at Wikipedia themselves, but it is one more reminder of how this feminist society has affected peoples preceptions.
How have we fallen so far from being a Christian nation? When we say “Its (Quiverfulls) distinguishing viewpoint to eagerly receive children as blessings from God”. They say it, like it is something the “Quiverfull people” wrote in the Bible. Since when did the Bible teach anything different? When did children become such a drag and burden on people. That even people that call themseves “Christians”, when they see the truth about children in scripture they turn their back on the Bible, saying “that was for back then, not us today”. They would like to think of it as a “new movement”, or some kind of oddity. It is not! It is to believe or Not to believe the Word of God. Quiverfull is all through their own Bibles! This is not a movement started only a while ago. No, this goes back to Genisis 1:28.
Genisis 1:28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
This is not a CURSE! God says it is a BLESSING!! So how do we come to a place, of such twisted (wicked) thinking that we twist the Word of God to fit our “Modern” way of thinking? Even the name “birth control” is rebellious in nature. How dare us, as a people shake our fist at God and say, “You will not have control of me!” When we take the “control” into our own hands, we are rebelling, and denying His very blessing! Then we wonder, “Where is the peace in our families?”. When from the start of our “family planning” we put God out of our planning. God wants to be involved. He is a loving Father.
Matthew 7:11 says:
Matthew 7:11 “if ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” KJV.
Protestants have tended to embrace the contraceptive revolution that began in the 1960s, along with the femenist movement. They were all designed to push women into the workforce more and more, to divide and conquer the American family. But recently, some conservative evangelicals, alarmed by what they see as a “contraceptive mentality” that has separated the act of sex from procreation, have begun to question mainstream Protestant stances as unbiblical. This “contraceptive mentality” is really no more than an “abortion mentality”! Denying God now with birth control, or later by abortion? Either one is still seeking mans own way apart from God. Any form of “Chemical Contraceptive” ( the Pill, Shot, Patch, &; some IUD’s) are nothing more than “Chemical ABORTIONS” Most women take these “contraceptives” because they don’t want to have a baby. But most women dont know they can have BREAKTHROUGH OVULATIONS and become pregnant while using these “contraceptives.” And how many of these women know that if they become pregnant after a BREAKTHROUGH OVULATION, these “contraceptives” will almost always kill any son or daughter they’ve conceived? It is what they are designed to do. Most people don’t know the real facts about how “contraceptives” work. And because of this lack of knowledge, most women are not aware that they may be having BREAKTHROUGH OVULATIONS, and conceiving children that are killed very early in the pregnancy. Women using these “contraceptives” almost never perceive that they have become pregnant, or that chemicals have killed their tiny baby. Even pro-abortion activist have said “if you outlaw all abortion, that would mean we would have to do away with the pill also”. If they need to, then we say GREAT! To read more on chemical abortion see this link.
But this is about more than the horrors of killing your unborn children. It is about “killing” or throwing away your heritage. Being fruitful is a reward. But people are so quick to get a tubal, or vasectomy as a quick fix so they can get on with the important parts of their lives, like building up worldly treasures! We are supposed to store up treasures in heaven, not of this world. Childrens’ (and peoples’) souls are Eternal, and of far greater value than anything else you can gather. The Bible says:
Psalm 127: 3-4
3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. 4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Just like with Esau and Jacob. Esau exchanged his birthright for his own way, as it says “ he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.” We as a nation want to eat, drink, be merry, and do our own will.
Genisis 25:30-34
30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom. 31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright. 32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? 33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. 34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.
Many mainstream Christians still despise children. You even hear Christian parents say things like “I can’t wait until school starts.” And others in church saying to families that are blessed with many children, things like, “you know what causes that?” or “haven’t you heard of birth control?” Spouting words trained to them by this worlds system. As if in their infinite wisdom they know more than God. You almost never hear someone quote a bible verse about children being a blessing at the anouncement of a 4th, 5th – or 9th child! Instead the comments are negative. What can we expect when they themselves are still in the worlds negative flow.
So what will I say in conclusion? Wake up! Strengthen that which remains! Get your thinking out of this worlds poverty minded mentality, and negative way of thinking. Quit being selfish. Read and study the Word of God and receive the heart of God concerning Children, whether you are of childbearing age or not! Repent of the past look forward to a new future with the eyes of our Lord in this area! He is faithful to forgive us when we ask. Give control back to God, and turn from your rebellious ways.
The worlds riches are no match for the peace of God! It is a bad trade and a sham the devil wants to sell you, trading your birthright or heritage for worldly treasures and ambitions “….All you have to do is free yourseves from those children you keep on having!…” , “….just take control into your own hands” says the devil! Just like he tempted Eve in the garden.
Don’t believe the devil’s lie!
We conclude then, that we are a Christian Family! Put whatever tag you want on us; Quiverfull, QF, Full Quiver, Quiverfull Minded, etc… We will choose Gods word first place in our lives. I think it would be more appropriate to tag those “Non-beleiving” believers as “QF Deficient Christians”. They are the ones denying part of God’s word, and making themselves seperate from God’s “whole” true faith.

There is a completely natural way to space babies designed by God and it involves no abstinence and no charting; in fact, it’s a method that requires little thought or effort. It’s called eco-breastfeeding by the Seven Standards. The instruction is in Part 3 of the free, short online NFP manual at http://www.nfpandmore.org. There is also a free brochure on the Home Page to download for promoting breastfeeding in your community. There is a side bar for Protestants at “Not Just for Catholics.” We have to remember that instruction in how the female body works is just plain physiology. God bless, Sheila Kippley

Thanks for the comment Sheila. It brings up a good topic we didnt cover in our post. Natural Family Planning or NFP is a methode that has some controversy and some benefits too. We do practice breastfeeding exclusively with all of our children, not to gain the natural spacing, but because we feel breastfeeding is healthier for the child. Breastfeeding does space them by Gods design and we are thankfull he has allowed that in his creation. We do strongly support breastfeeding, and the mothers right to breastfeed her children.
The other form NFP we personaly would not choose because it would still be a matter of taking control out of Gods hands. And denying what blessings he may have in store for us.
Thank you for your input and the link it looks to be full of information.
