SunRise through IceFog

We are independent conservative Christians, (Charismatic, Mennonite, our own mix) spreading the good news of Jesus, his love, and the Covenant we are a part of through the blood of Jesus. We are open to minister in towns around Alaska and further as the Lord desires and provides. We love telling the people about Jesus The “Anointed One” and his Anointing, and how his love and power can change a life. We want to help people see the importance of living a pure life. Free from this worlds grip, on people, through modern media and other schemes of the devil. So they can walk in Gods best, and be able to powerfully help others as God leads. And to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

We continue to speak out against the defeminization of our society, the travesty of abortion, birth control, and elective sterilization. Also calling out against the loss of our purity as “Christians” through the modern media. The distractions of this world cause us to be to busy for our family, and it is ripping at the very seems of the family unit. However “Living Simple,” in a complexed fast paced world, is possible if we put our full trust in Jesus to provide our needs, and keep our priorities in line.

We are a Quiverfull minded, headcovering, conservative Christian family. We are into homeschooling, cloth diapering, homesteading, natural birthing, breastfeeding, and non-vaccinating. We like to read blogs about other like minded people. We also like to garden, crochet, knit, sew, quilt, work with wood, play with our children, color pretty pictures, and play board games.

We are glad you have come to our new blog. Nothing written here is intended to be condemning, but rather we intend to encourage those who have similar beliefs, or who have honest questions about the things we write about. If you do not agree with something, that is ok! We may never all agree on everything until we reach perfection in Glory! We love you either way! We are glad you are here, hope you enjoy. Feel free to post comments and make yourself at home.

Keep checking back for more updates. Or you have two subscription options. In the upper right hand side of our blog are our “Feed Burner” Links. You can subscribe via email or through a “reader.” Most have chosen the Email option seems easier I guess.

  17. Holly Says:

Thanks for the comment! Yes, after just a little reading, I’ve shared with my husband that I really don’t think that a vasectomy would ever be the way to go. However, at this point, it is completely moot. The issue at hand is whether to have an Intrauterine Insemination done or to wait on God and also possibly get qualified to adopt in the state system.
I think we’re leaning towards the latter!

  18. TheDeeZone Says:

Why are you against vaccinations? I would like to share my reason for asking. My dad was a polio survivor.

  19. Trinity Pratt Says:

You have a great blog!!! Our family is feeling God lead us to Alaska. We now live in Oregon. I’ve been looking for a blog of families living up there but I had no luck. My dear husband found your site for me. I am very interested in how you all live. We are a homeschooling family. There is 5 of us. We desire to raise our children in Gods country. Not that Oregon doesn’t belong to God, but it is really hard to train and disiple our children in the middle of all this caios. My husband (before me) lived near fairbanks for three years. His parents have property in Naukati. We are coming up there in August for around 6 weeks. I would really love to hear of your life up there. What does your husband do for a living? Is it hard to garden? About how much does it cost a month for your famlily to live? We live very simply. We hunt, garden, can, we don’t have television. We desire nothing more than to teach our children about Christ’s creation by living right in the middle of all his beauty. Thanks for your wonderful blog/
    debtor to mercy,
    Trinity

From reading your blog I have learned that we have different views about many issues. While I do not agree with everything I read I do find your blog interesting. I have learned that we agree about the important faith issues. In fact, I enjoy reading blogs written those whose views are different than my own.

  27. Carlos Sperry Says:

Just a quick note. We really enjoyed perusing your site. We are a missionary family stationed in Honduras Central America for the past 14 years. We homeschool and have 6 children. We are messianic Christians and are part of the Restoration branches movement. It appears that most of our beliefs coincide: first and foremost- pro Jesus, then pro-life, pro-head coverings (possibly a bit different understanding than what you have), pro-chastity, pro-courtship, etc. Anyway, we stay pretty busy here, but we would appreciate being able to visit with you all at least occasionally. May God bless you.

    En Cristo,
    Carlos Sperry

  28. wilkinson4jesus Says:

Thanks for your comments on our blog today. We are always glad to meet fellow believers. Looking forward to hearing more from you, and learning about your life and experiences in Honduras.

  29. TheDeeZone Says:

Our beliefs and lifestyles are very different but that is one of the things I enjoy about reading your blog.

  30. wilkinson4jesus Says:

    Thanks Dee,
It would be pretty boring if we were all the same like clones. It is nice even though we are different we are all saved by grace when we know Yeshua (Jesus) and share that common bond. ;)
    ~Blessings~

  31. TheDeeZone Says:

I wish more people understood that. You live in Alaska & want to be off the grid. I’m from one of the largest metropolitan areas in the U.S. and think the college town we live in (about 150,000) is too small. You have several children; we have none but are considering adoption. We do share our faith & love for Third Day.

  32. Jamie Says:

Just stopping in to say hello. I just found your blog and look forward to reading more. We do have some different beliefs but we both know and love Jesus, so like you said, that’s what really matters! I’d love for you to stop in and visit my blog sometime. I am a homeschooling mom, we have two kids, working on adopting, and still trying to pray and figure out about the whole quiverful thing. Oh, and I just saw Holly Hobby on your side bar! Growing up, I loved Holly Hobby, and had my room decorated with Holly Hobby stuff! :-)

  33. TheDeeZone Says:

Remember you saying that you were 3rd Day fans. My review for the new CD got linked on one of the Third Day blogs.

  34. amber Says:

i saw thedeezone ask about vaccinations, we have had a child who had allergic reactions to them. i think that dr. gloss over that children do have reaction to vaccines and that there should be allergy testing done to prevent reactions, it would be a simple as skin pricks to more demanding blood work. i have heard recently that they have pulled all thermasil and other preservatives out of vaccines (yaaa i hope it is true for all those children who do get them). so now our only problem is the allergies to what the vaccines are produced in and the use of human diploid cells from murdered (aborted) children.

  36. asimplesinner Says:

This would be a decent time to read Pope Paul VI’s landmark encyclical Humanæ Vitæ… It is the fortieth anniversary of the letter to Catholics that re-affirmed that the Catholic Church was going to stand by what had been – up until 1931 when the Anglicans changed course on the teaching by vote – the unanimous consensus throughout the Christian world.

It is worth a read… would take less than 45 minutes, and is rather prophetic given all that has come to pass. I think this will prove to be a document that demonstrates common ground between Catholics and Evangelicals even more in the very near future.

  37. Coffee Catholic Says:

Hello! I used to live in Alaska but now I live in Scotland. I’ve married a wonderful Scottish farmer and we live waaay up north so all of that Alaska living prepared me for this place! I really enjoy your blog! GOD BLESS!

  38. TheDeeZone Says:

Got to see 3rd Day live this weekend.

  39. wilkinson4jesus Says:

    Coffee Catholic- Michelle,
That sounds very neat! We would love to see the countryside there. :) Sounds wonderful.

    Dee,
Thats great, we enjoyed it when we saw third day in Fairbanks a couple years ago. Sounds like fun.

  40. Sidda Says:

When you say non-vaccinating do you mean that you do not get the regular vaccinations for your children that protect againt smallpox, measles, meningitis, etc. Please don’t take this a a criticism but I believe that God would have us take care of our children with these. They cannot attend college unless that have their vaccinations.

  41. waynenikkih Says:

    Sidda,

I’m not Anna, but I’d like to share some information on vaccine issues with you.

Actually, non-vaccinated children can attend schools, including colleges, if they meet their state vaccination exemption requirements. Here’s a link to state vaccination exemption laws: http://home.san.rr.com/via/STATES/allstates.htm .

As far as God wanting us to take care of our children, there have been many Christian Mommas who believed the same thing, got their children vaccinated, and wholeheartedly believed afterwards that it was a tragic, terrible mistake. See http://www.nvic.org for vaccination information that all parents need to know exists.

Did you know that some vaccines are made with aborted fetal cells? There are Christian Mommas and other pro-life parents who don’t agree with injecting these cells into their children for any reason. There are also some who follow Old Testament health laws which makes many vaccines unclean.

Anyway, I’m not here to convince anyone one way or the other on vaccines because choosing to vaccinate or not comes with a great deal of study, prayer, and responsibility. But please, anyone reading this, study this issue from both sides – the side you get from your pediatrician or children’s health care provider and other medical sources, as well as the concerned parents and non-vaccinating side.

Please, though, study BOTH sides and carefully weigh what you read and learn with prayer and Scripture – there’s too much to lose if you don’t.

I miss you all and hope to see you soon. We had a nice day and had lunch with your cousin, sister in-law and aunt this week, it was fun and you were missed. The Ice Park is open now with the single block competition so far, and this year they have a larger slide for us older kids. Sounds like fun. Enjoy all the pictures of the kids.

  47. Summer Nichols Says:

    Dear Wilkinson Family,
Your blog has touched me in a special way. I am a homeschooling mother of three. I feel that God led me to your site to encourage me with some struggles we are having. Thanks for putting all this together so that moms like me can reach out to you, which brings us all closer to the Lord. I am so much enjoying all the info and look forward to hearing more about Alaska. What a beautiful, untouched part of God’s Creation! All my love from Mississippi….Summer N.

  48. wilkinson4jesus Says:

Summer~ I am so glad that you found us, and even more happy that you have found some help in what we have done here. The Glory all goes to YHWH if there is any good found here, as we learn to yield to him. If you ever need any thing feel free to post or email us (email address is above) for prayer or to talk. :)

  49. Terrie Says:

Is it true that in Alaska you can still ‘claim land’? You know the way they used to do it. My DH said he heard that someone was able to do it.

    Blessings,
    Terrie

  50. wilkinson4jesus Says:

There isn’t any homesteading here in Alaska anymore. The Department of Natural Resources does have land for sale and the occasional land auction. But there is still a reasonable charge for the land.
